ABOUT DIEGO

Diego Barragan is a life-long resident of downtown San Jose. He grew up in the working-class neighborhood just south of I-280 called Spartan Keyes.

Both his mother and father worked blue-collar jobs, his father was a postal carrier and his mother was a civilian employee with the San Jose Police Department. They were hard working individuals who instilled in him a strong work ethic. It was their encouragement that allowed Diego to pursue a career in public services.

Diego has served in government at both the federal and local levels. He brings a deep understanding of how government works, and how it can be utilized to move an agenda forward. At San Jose City Hall, as both a Legislative Director and Chief of Staff, Diego was called upon to develop complex strategy to successfully move policy and critical budget priorities in the third-largest city in California.

In addition to his service in government, Diego has volunteered his time in multiple ways throughout the years to better his community. Today, he currently serves on the Santa Clara County Airport Land-Use Commission.

Diego holds a BA in political science with a minor in Urban Studies from San Jose State University, and an MBA from Santa Clara University. He resides in Downtown San Jose with his wife Patricia, and their two sons.
